A young girl Sia has recently finished her graduation in Law against her parent’s wishes. With absolutely no family background in the legal profession, she sets out to explore the various opportunities this not so common but upcoming field of law brings her way. Written in the form of short stories and inspired by some true events, the author, through the protagonist Sia, narrates to us few such unusual and memorable incidents including some eccentric courtroom dramas, all of which left a deep impact in her life. This debut book one is an honest attempt to talk about law with a dash of satire, with an aim to reach out to all those who may or may have never heard anything about the legal profession nor would have ever stepped inside a court. And for those who are a part of it already, they might relate to it in some way. Just read along and enjoy the short but bumpy ride…..

Yours Legally, a 116 pages fiction is a compilation of 6 short stories dangling around the legal system(particularly Indian legal system). These six stories encompass six elements of the profession i.e. Case, Court, Lawyer, Complainant, Confinement and the Criminal. Each tale has cast off the light on these elements separately. The narration is done by Sia, the protagonist and she is struggling in the profession to reach heights while adjusting herself to its everyday handlings. The stories were enlightening and let out a lot about how the actual judicial system of the country works.

They will give you a powerful glimpse of the courtroom. Some of the stories will really make you mull over the societal values today like the very first one ’99 Vs निन्यानवे’. ‘The kid on the last bench’ was an impressive one and it revealed how bitter relationships can become and I was pained to read that. Every story had an unusual message to give and I loved the chapter on ‘The Counsel’ which has been taken from the real-life Advocate’s journey.

🎗 I adored the book cover so much. It was really neat and beautiful to look at.

🎗 The stories were a learning adventure for me as I got to know the real courts and hearings from a legal officer turned author.

🎗I would recommend you to read the book even if you’re not into law as a career as the author has tried to keep it as modest as she could for the readers.

🎗It was a short and brisk read which was connecting and it would make a good book for a short trip.

Sonia Sahijwani Saini started her career as a writer by her debut Book “Legally Yours”. She is a Commerce Graduate with a degree in law later and is currently working as a legal officer in a Public Sector Company.
