Tara Sharma is a smart, eleven year old girl who loves to read books about magic and adventure. She is bored during her summer vacations as she has already read all her books. So when she meets a good witch in real life, she is ecstatic. On top of that she is now friends with the witch’s cat too. But the witch and the cat are looking for a lost Talisman and believe that Tara or someone that Tara knows has it. This involves Tara in some serious potion making activities and giving those ‘not-so-trustworthy’ potions to her friends and family. But there are other dangerous creatures as well who want the Talisman badly and they can magically transform anyone into anything! It is now up to Tara to find and get the Talisman to safety before it gets in the wrong hands.

Tara lives in New Delhi with her crazy family. Her mother likes preparing sandwiches of all sorts and out of anything and her Granny who never recollects her name correctly is always pooping around😂😂 She is a Bookworm with a pet Pancake and Best Friend Sandy.
Her life has been going okayish until she hits upon Mystique and Mrs Sullivan one day in her flat while roaming her pet for a morning walk.
As Tara’s maid told, Mrs Sullivan’s house is truly bizarre but what is weirder is that Tara can hear her cat Speak and not Meow. And then begins the tale of the magical potion and Wizardry. Mystique uncovers that Tara Knows about the Talisman when her hand brushes the smoke emitting ball. Will Tara trust all that Mystique reveals about the wizarding world and Tara being a part of it? Will she help them find the Talisman? And if yes, will it be that easy?

The book is full of happenings and hocus-pocus. And I really liked the magic potion recipes in between😁😁 ( I used to make potions as a child and I struggled so much to be unseen drinking that🤦) This book made me nostalgic. And it is a sure good bedtime storybook for any child. It will make your child more imaginative. Also, Tara is actually courageous and your kid will love her character.

Ekta Bhatnagar is a freelance writer who loves food, travel and stories. She grew up in Kolkata and Mumbai, received a Mass Communication degree from Sophia College, Mumbai and worked in several areas including Advertising, Human Resource, Corporate Communications and even as a Teacher to school children. While in her teaching job, Ekta realized that stories is what she loves to tell and listen to- especially if they involve magic, wizardry and humour. Ekta is married to an Army officer, is a mom to a four year old little girl and is a pet parent to a 10 year old Labrador. Like Ekta, her daughter too is intrigued by stories about magic and imagination. One night when her daughter narrated something to her about magic and witches from one of her story books, the premise for her new novel for children ‘Tara and the Talismanic Potion Commotion’ was born. Ekta now writes, is also trying her hands at art and enjoys cooking and travelling with her little daughter. She keeps moving around due to her husband’s job but currently resides in Delhi. Her first children’s book was a chapter book called ‘Genius Kids on a Mission’
